Welcome to my blog, gardening for beginners with Evelyn. This blog is for people who want garden tips. Since the pandemic people are more interested in learning how to create a garden to grow their produce. Growing up as a sharecropper in eastern North Carolina in the 1960's gave me knowledge on how to grow a garden. One trend that is increasing is garden beds #raisedgardenbeds #elevatedgardenbeds. There are raised and elevated garden beds made out of metal and wood. So, let's talk about garden beds.
Gardening Made Simple

I like the garden beds because they are pretty easy to assemble and less work than breaking ground and starting a garden. I like using the cedar wood beds compared to the metal beds. Keep gardening Simple. Start with a garden bed to see if gardening is something you like to do. Everyone is not a gardener, and that’s okay. You don't want to invest a lot of money or time into a garden activity if you don’t like gardening.
Garden Bed
Different companies offer a variety of styles and shapes for your garden beds. I purchased the Vigoro Elevated Cedar Wood Garden Bed from Home Depot #vigoroelevatedcedarwoodgardenbed #productreview. I like that the elevated garden bed is, for the most part, not complicated to assemble. The only other items I needed to build were a mallet and garden fabric to place in the planting section. It took about two hours to make it by myself. Take breaks periodically and try to get someone to help you assemble the garden bed.
Planting in Garden Bed
You can plant what you want in your garden bed. I decided to grow lavender, snapdragon, petunia, and viola flowers #flowers #flowegardenbed in my garden bed. If you want to plant vegetables, consider planting low-maintenance plants such as spring onions, squash, cherry tomatoes, collards and more. I use in-ground soil mixed with potting soil to lock in moisture. The garden products are your choice.
